InvestHer Conference: Empowering Women in Real Estate Investment

PPR Capital Management’s Director of Business Development, Amy Stavin, and Relationship Manager, Stefani Baker, recently attended InvestHer Con, a conference focused on empowering women in real estate investment. The event brought together approximately 400 women from across the country, creating a collaborative environment where like-minded investors and professionals shared knowledge and experience. Here are the key insights from the conference.

Conference Overview: A Safe Space for Strategic Learning

InvestHer Con is an event specifically designed for women investors, offering a unique space to learn and ask critical questions that might otherwise go unasked at other investor events. The conference attracts a diverse mix of participants, from new investors eager to learn the fundamentals to seasoned real estate professionals sharing their experience.

What sets this event apart is its holistic approach. Beyond traditional real estate investment topics, sessions address work-life balance, peer mentorship and burnout prevention, tackling some of the more unique challenges women face in building successful investment careers. Session takeaways include skills such as financial management, actionable goal-setting strategies, how to leverage AI in investing, effective networking techniques, and mastering deal analysis and underwriting.

InvestHer Con’s approach to attendee education acknowledges that successful investing requires not just technical knowledge, but also mastering personal sustainability and developing a strong professional network.

Throughout the event, several recurring themes stood out, reflecting not just the challenges women face in real estate, but the unique strengths they bring to it.

Key Conference Takeaways: Action, Preparation, and Partnership

Across the sessions, speakers offered consistent guidance grounded in real-world experience, highlighting what separates intention from execution.

The first key theme to emerge was the importance of taking action. Speakers consistently stressed the importance of implementing concrete steps toward investment goals rather than allowing analysis paralysis to prevent progress. Speakers challenged attendees to move beyond theoretical knowledge into practical application.

The second theme centered on preparation and flexibility. Successful real estate investors must be prepared for multiple outcomes with each investment opportunity. While having Plan A is essential, Plans B and C are equally important. The ability to pivot and think creatively when facing unexpected challenges often determines investment success, a crucial skill in today’s dynamic real estate market.

Finally, speakers emphasized the value of partnership and mentorship. Speakers consistently emphasized the importance of finding an experienced mentor, since success in real estate investment rarely comes from working in isolation. Attendees were reminded that real estate success rarely happens alone. Trusted partnerships and mentorships are essential for long-term growth.

These themes were brought to life in several breakout sessions, including one led by Amy Stavin.

Breakout Session Leadership: Defining Investment Criteria

In her breakout session titled “Define Your Buy Box,” Amy led a discussion around the importance of establishing clear investment criteria and mastering the due diligence processes. She covered the most critical elements, including understanding investment timelines, calculating carrying costs, and identifying potential pitfalls before they negatively impact returns.

Additionally, she emphasized that by establishing clear buy box criteria, investors can elevate their portfolios by focusing on opportunities that align with their risk tolerance, return expectations, and operational capabilities. Sessions like Amy’s left attendees with practical tools and renewed motivation, reinforcing the real-world value of events like real estate conferences.

Conference Impact: Building Community and Capability

A dedicated space for women in real estate isn’t just valuable, but essential to the industry’s continued growth. Events like InvestHer Con provide a rare combination of strategic insight, practical guidance, and long-term perspective.
